Well I'm sort of a newbie to HAM; I always had an interest in HAM Radio growing up, but didn't know anyone who was a Radio Operator and had no one to mentor me or be an Elmer... A few years back I decided to find a Tech license class on line and attended it. Shortly after I took my first test and and walked away with my General ticket in October of 2015. A couple years later (2017) I attended an Amateur Extra course lead by SARC and passed my Amateur Extra exam (on the second attempt) so for those out there working on it... as the saying goes if at first you don't succeed try, try again! Right after getting my Amateur Extra ticket I ended up moving and haven't been too involved in the hobby of the past eight years. Things have begun to settle down from the move and so I am picking up the hobby again and found an interest in DMR since I am living in an area I can't have large or small antennas visible.
After getting my General Ticket I vowed when I got Extra I was going to become a Volunteer Examiner (VE) being new to the hobby and Radio Operations I thought this would be a good way of paying back to the HAM community. So as soon as I passed the Extra class exam I started studying and became ARRL Accredited as a VE, having moved to Colorado the president of RGARC encouraged and assisted me in applying for W5YI accreditation.
I have interests in of course Amateur Radio, Astronomy, Photography, Electronics and Eschatology. Not in any particular order as each has its place in my heart and each rotate to the forefront at different times.
I work in IT and am lucky enough to be working from home which has allowed me to find my retirement home and move here while I continue to work.
